Crash in final of Tour of Britain causes 2007 Tour worries
A crash that happened during Sunday's final stage of the Tour of Britain has caused further worries about London's ability to host two stages of the 2007 Tour de France race.
A total of five people were injured after a police motorcyclist went into a marshal's motorbike on The Mall.
The peloton already held a go-slow protest the day before because of concerns that roads were not being securely blocked.
Cyclists had also already complained during stage three of the Tour of Britain in Sheffield that rolling roadblocks were still allowing traffic to get through.
The complaint was the same in London and the accident, in which the motorbikes crashed into crowd barriers, further demonstrated the need for better safety procedures.
World champion rider Tom Boonen said: "All the circumstances were there for someone to get injured."
