British cyclist Mark Cavendish supports anti-doping move
British cyclist Mark Cavendish is supporting the campaign to get ProTour cyclists to sign an International Cycling Union (UCI) anti-doping charter.
The UCI hopes to get all cyclists to sign a declaration before the Tour de France to state that they are not involved in any way in doping.
T-Mobile rider Mark Cavendish, 22, said: "I think I speak on behalf of a young generation which believes it is cool to be clean,
"I want to sign this to show that my career will be doping free. I am completely against it."
The anti-doping charter has been launched in response to a series of doping scandals that have generated a lot of bad publicity for cycling.
The UCI wont be able to insist that cyclists sign the charter but a list of those who have and those who haven't signed will be made available on the website of the UCI.
