Barloworld rider Geraint Thomas says Duenas Nevado should get jail
Team Barloworld cyclist Geraint Thomas says he thinks his team-mate Moises Duenas Nevado should go to jail after the latter rider failed a doping test.
Spaniard Duenas Nevado was found to have used the banned blood booster EPO during the Tour de France on 8 July.
22-year-old Thomas, who comes from Cardiff in Wales, explained: "I never expected him to do this and because of his selfish act our sponsor has now pulled out. The last I heard he was facing a five-year prison sentence in France, and I hope he gets it."
The Welsh cyclist said he believes that the time for drug use in sport is over and he supports the anti-doping rules and tests being used to control the problem.
Duenas Nevado had been banned by Barloword and withdrawn from the 11th stage of the Tour as soon as they got the news he had tested positive, and the team also decided to end its sponsorship because of this.
