Australian cyclist Robbie McEwen claims second Tour de France win

robbiemcewenAustralian Robbie McEwen won for a second time at the Tour de France when he crossed first in a thrilling sprint finish in Wednesday's fourth stage.

Belgium's world champion Tom Boonen (Quick Step) held on to the overall leader's yellow jersey after the 207km section between Huy and Saint Quentin and British rider Bradley Wiggins finished in the main pack after he had been one of five to have broken early.

Spanish cyclists Isaac Galvez and Oscar Freire were second and third in respective positions.

Thor Hushovd, who came in fourth ahead of Tom Boonen, was later dropped to 148th for blocking Austrian rider Bernhard Eisel.

Davitamon rider Robbie McEwen crossed at least two full cycle lengths clear, for his second stage victory in three days.

"The final stretch suited me because the last straight was a little bit uphill," said Robbie McEwen who now has 10 Tour stage wins to his credit.
