American cyclist Saul Raisin recovering from brain surgery
American cyclist Saul Raisin has come out of a coma and been taken off a ventilator and is now recovering from brain surgery after a terrible crash last week at he Circuit de la Sarthe race.
Saul Raisin, 23, has now been able to move his head, arms and legs and is likely to be taken out of intensive care next week.
"It's a huge relief even though we're at a very early stage," said his Credit Agricole team manager Roger Legeay.
And Roger Legeay went on to say: "We still don't know what the consequences of such a serious crash will be."
After the crash, Saul Raisin had been conscious and moving but then fell into a coma and had to have an operation to reduce pressure caused by fluid on his brain.
Saul Raisin is a rising star in cycling known for his climbing skills and he turned professional in 2003 as well as breaking into Credit Agricole's first team last year.
