American cyclist Bobby Julich wins Paris-Nice prologue
Defending champion American cyclist Bobby Julich, 34, won the 4.8km prologue of the Paris-Nice race on Sunday.
Bobby Julich managed to clock a time of six minutes and seven seconds
and beat the mark set earlier on by Kazakhstan cyclist Andrey
Kaschechkin.
Australian Bradley McGee came in at third place, but Great Britain's
Olympic gold medallist Bradley Wiggins was down in a somewhat
disappointing seventh position.
Bobby Julich's triumph was the first this season for his CSC team from
Denmark and he gets to hold on the leader's yellow jersey.
"It's a surprise win for me today because this was not a major goal for
me coming here," Bobby Julich told the official Paris-Nice website.
"But this morning in training I realized I had the legs to achieve
something and I told myself I should seize the opportunity," Bobby
Julich added.
"I'm like wine - age makes me better. I've been based in Nice for eight years and could not be happier," Bobby Julich also said.
