Welsh boxers Joe Calzaghe and Enzo Maccarinelli fly to America
Welsh boxers Joe Calzaghe and Enzo Maccarinelli will be flying to America on Saturday in another attempt to gain support from the US audience.
Joe Calzaghe and Enzo Maccarinelli will attend a press conference in New York on Tuesday.
"This is an excellent chance to build their profile further in the US after last week's wins got great figures on TV there," said boxing promoter Frank Warren.
The news arrives as Danish fighter Mikkel Kessler's promoters have stepped up the campaign for Joe Calzaghe to face him and they say it is the fight the public are asking for.
A super middleweight unification bout between WBO & IBF champion Joe Calzaghe and WBA & WBC holder Mikkel Kessler is a possibility, and it could be held in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in February or March. However, that would need more selling to the American public than a bout with a fighter who is well established across the Atlantic, and Bernard Hopkins being Joe Calzaghe's preferred choice for this.
