Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe beats Bernard Hopkins
Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe may have defeated America's Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas but he says he will only fight one more time before announcing his retirement.
36-year-old Joe Calzaghe is now undefeated in 45 fights after he won against Bernard Hopkins with a split-points decision on Sunday.
The much-hyped fight in Las Vegas between Calzaghe and Bernard Hopkins turned out to be a bit of a disappointment for boxing fans that expected an exciting match. One judge scored the fight 114-113 in favour of Hopkins, while the other two saw Joe Calzaghe winning by 115-112 and 116-111.
Besides his new light-heavyweight debut title Calzaghe is also the super-middleweight world champion but he now has various options to consider. American boxers Roy Jones Jr and Kelly Pavlik are thought to be his most likely next opponents.
Roy Jones Jr, 39, happened to be in Las Vegas to watch Joe Calzaghe face Hopkins and the Welshman said afterwards that he had spoken to the American fighter and potential new opponent.
