Welsh boxer Gavin Rees to face Andreas Kotelnik
Welsh boxer Gavin Rees will be defending his WBA light-welterweight title when he takes on Andreas Kotelnik from the Ukraine at the Cardiff International Arena on 22 March.
Unbeaten Gavin Rees, 27, from Newbridge, is reported to have said: "It took so long to win this title, I'm not giving it up first fight." Gavin Rees had won his title by beating Souleymane M'Baye.
"Beating M'Baye was a massive shock to many people - but not to me," Gavin Rees said.
Andreas Kotelnik, 30, has a past impressive record too with 28 wins (12 knockouts), two losses and one draw.
The draw was when he fought against Souleymane M'Baye in Liverpool last March, and Andreas Kotelnik's only lost fights are points defeats by Junior Witter and Gabriel Mapouka.
Enzo Calzaghe trains Gavin Rees, who won the crown in Cardiff last July, and his undefeated record stands at 27-0 with 13 knockouts.
