US boxer Kelly Pavlik to face Welshman Gary Lockett
American boxer Kelly Pavlik will face Welshman Gary Lockett who will be challenging him for the world middleweight title in Atlantic City or New York on 7 June.
Bob Arum, who is Kelly Pavlik's promoter confirmed this and added: "Win or lose, we want (Pavlik) to fight guys who are aggressive, and Lockett fits the bill," "Lockett is a rugged guy, a tremendous puncher, and he can take a punch."
Unbeaten Ohio boxer Kelly Pavlik, 25, who is nicknamed "The Ghost," will be making his first defence of his WBO and WBC titles since his back-to-back victories against Jermain Taylor.
After defeating Jermain Taylor in September, Kelly Pavlik - who has so far won all his 33 fights with 29 knockouts - was victorious again in a non-title rematch in February.
Now Kelly Pavlik's promotion team at Top Rank have selected Gary Lockett, 31, as his next opponent.
Gary Lockett, who comes from Cwmbran, is trained by Enzo Calzaghe, and has a record of 30-1-0 (21 KOs).
