Swansea boxer Enzo Maccarinelli gives up WBU cruiserweight belt
Swansea boxer Enzo Maccarinelli has given up his WBU cruiserweight belt after three years and seven successful defences.
Enzo Maccarinelli, 25, won the interim WBO crown when he stopped Marcelo Dominguez in Cardiff in July.
Enzo Maccarinelli will be given the WBO title if champion Johnny Nelson does not face him in the autumn, with 14 October a possible date for the fight.
"The WBU was my stepping-stone belt, now I have my eyes on bigger things," Enzo Maccarinelli told the South Wales Echo.
"It looks like the Nelson fight could be on the 14 October show in Manchester, but I've not heard anything definite.
"First we have to see if Nelson signs up for it," Enzo Maccarinelli added.
Sheffield boxer Johnny Nelson, 39, has held the belt for seven years, but a serious knee injury in March messed up a July bout with Enzo Maccarinelli and threatened to end his career.
