Sheffield boxer Clinton Woods to fight Antonio Tarver
Sheffield boxer Clinton Woods will be defending his IBF light-heavyweight title against Antonio Tarver in Tampa, Florida, and the date for the fight is 12 April.
Clinton Woods, 35, wants to boost his name in the world of boxing by taking on and hopefully beating some of its big names.
American boxer Antonio Tarver is a former champion and he also co-starred with Sylvester Stallone in Rocky VI so he fits the bill of the sort of fighter Clinton Woods wants to face well.
A confident Clinton Woods boasted: "Tarver may have beaten Rocky Balboa but he won't get past me."
And Clinton Woods has achieved much since that time, having beaten Rico Hoye for the vacant IBF belt in 2005 and then going on to successfully defend it four times, with the most recent being against Julio Cesar Gonzalez in Sheffield in September.
Speaking of his forthcoming bout against Antonio Tarver, Clinton Woods added: "It is a fight I have been longing for."
