Scottish boxer Kevin McIntyre beats Kevin Anderson
Scottish boxer Kevin McIntyre beat compatriot fighter Kevin Anderson and defended his British welterweight title with a points victory at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow.
Kevin McIntyre, 29, had won Kevin Anderson's belt in Irvine last November and he showed he was the better boxer again when they met.
Kevin Anderson, 24, began well but by the third round Kevin McIntyre was in command of the fight and he managed to avoid a spot of trouble in the 12th and last round to hang on to his title.
Kevin McIntyre proudly said after the fight: "I needed to prove the last fight wasn't a fluke. Anderson showed that he might have been under par in the first fight but he wasn't tonight, he showed that he was a tough fighter."
Kevin Anderson's manager Tommy Gilmour admitted it was a disappointment for Kevin Anderson and he said: "McIntyre has a mandatory defence to make and there are three or four other boxers waiting for their chance so it could be a while before Kevin gets another title shot."
