Scott Harrison seeks new opponent after Juan Manuel Marquez withdrew
Boxer Scott Harrison is looking for a new opponent for the next defence of his WBO featherweight title after Mexican Juan Manuel Marquez unexpectedly pulled out.
Scott Harrison, 29, had been ordered by the WBO to face interim champion Juan Manuel Marquez by 9 November or lose his title but the Mexican fighter has chosen to take another fight on 21 October instead.
This comes as yet another blow to Scott Harrison, who had withdrawn from his last scheduled fight in May at short notice due to depression and drink problems and he should have faced Dominican Joan Guzman earlier this year but his opponent also pulled out.
Scott Harrison has not fought since November last year.
Scott Harrison had also been charged with six criminal offences earlier this month, including three assaults and one fraud.
But it is thought that Juan Manuel Marquez's withdrawal could be a blessing in disguise because he would have been a very tough proposition for Scott Harrison to fight against.
