Russian giant boxer Nikolay Valuev faces Monte Barrett
Russian giant boxer and WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev is about to make his American debut when he faces Monte Barrett in Chicago on Saturday.
Nikolay Valuev, 33, who is reported to be seven foot and 23 stone, defends the title he won from John Ruiz.
"I want to win over the hearts of the American people and the best way is with a strong display," said the undefeated Nikolay Valuev.
"America is still the Mecca of boxing even without a world champion," Nikolay Valuev added.
Nikolay Valuev is one of four boxers from Russia to hold the major belts, the others being Wladimir Klitschko, Oleg Maskaev and Sergei Liakhovich.
However, Monte Barrett is confident of getting America back on the world heavyweight stage.
"David will slay Goliath", Monte Barrett said.
Nikolay Valuev has a perfect record in 44 fights, with 32 knockouts and his opponent Monte Barrett, who measures 6ft 3ins, has had 31 wins in 35 contests, with 17 of them by knockouts.
