Russian giant Nikolai Valuev the "Beast from the East" beats Owen Beck
Russian giant boxer Nikolai Valuev, nicknamed the "Beast from the East" stopped Jamaican challenger Owen Beck in the third round when he defended his WBA heavyweight title in Hannover, Germany.
Nikolai Valuev, the biggest heavyweight champion in history at 7ft 1in and 23 stone, hit Owen Beck with a right uppercut that sent him crashing to the floor.
Owen Beck, who had already been on the deck in round two of a one-sided fight, got back up but the referee stopped the bout seconds after when Nikolai Valuev hit him with a barrage of punches.
The "Beast from the East", will now be attempting to conquer America.
"I felt a lot of pressure because it was my first defence," Nikolai Valuev said. "I keep improving a lot. Now I look forward to fighting in America again."
Nikolai Valuev's promoters, Don King and German Wilfried Sauerland, are hoping to establish the giant boxer as the "Eighth Wonder of the World".
"We will try to bring him to America as soon as possible," Don King said after the fight. "He will take America by storm and unify all titles. "
