Russian boxer Oleg Maskaev stopped by Samuel Peter
Russian boxer Oleg Maskaev has been defeated by Samuel Peter who is now the first Nigerian to win a heavyweight championship belt. Samuel Peter beat Oleg Maskaev by a stoppage in the sixth round of their WBC title fight on Saturday.
Samuel Peter, 27, let fly with punch after punch to defeat Oleg Maskaev in the first ever heavyweight title fight to be held in Mexico.
And Samuel Peter was clearly in command and the stronger boxer throughout the fight although Oleg Maskaev gave him some problems in the third round.
A proud and confident Samuel Peter said: "I'm the best heavyweight in the world. I'm undisputed. I can beat anyone. All of them are going down."
Samuel Peter has now upped his record to 30 victories (23 KOs) with only one defeat by IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko, and he is looking to arrange a rematch so he can get his revenge.
"I'm going to get him," Samuel Peter said.
