Ricky Hatton appeals to fans to help police find stolen belt
Boxer Ricky Hatton has decided to help police as they try to track down a historic belt awarded to Teddy Maguire. The belt had been awarded to Teddy Maguire more than 70 years ago, but now it has been stolen from his son's house in Cheshire.
Manchester-based international champion Ricky Hatton has urged boxing fans to help police find it.
The belt, which has a centrepiece featuring two boxers raising their gloves, is surrounded by intricate metal work and chains and dates back to 1934. It went to Teddy Maguire after a fight at Blackpool Tower and is said to hold great sentimental value.
Ricky Hatton, who is in Las Vegas at present getting ready for his welterweight title fight on 8 December, explained: "It takes a lot of blood sweat and tears to win a belt.
"I would be devastated if somebody was to steal one of my belts and if anybody has any information as to the whereabouts of this belt I would ask them to contact their local police station."
