Nottingham boxer Carl Froch faces Russian Denis Inkin
Nottingham's Carl Froch is getting nearer to a fight with Joe Calzaghe it seems because he will first of all be facing Russian Denis Inkin in a WBC super-middleweight eliminator. The fight is scheduled to take place in Nottingham on 29 March.
Denis Inkin is unbeaten so far and he has already defeated Carl Froch as an amateur in 1999 but now the latter of the two fighters has the chance to possibly get his revenge all these years later.
Carl Froch knows he is in for real battle though and he said: "This is the toughest fight of my life. I have a lot of respect for Denis Inkin. It is a shoot-out for the chance to become the next world champion."
Meanwhile, Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe is more concerned with getting ready for his light-heavyweight fight with Bernard Hopkins in Las Vegas in April.
Joe Calzaghe in the past had said that any talk of him fighting Carl Froch was a "joke" however, if Joe Calzaghe gives up his titles in search of a belt at a second weight, then Carl Froch's fight with Denis Inklin could be upgraded to a full WBC championship bout.
