Injured boxer Michael Sprott pulls out of Matt Skelton fight
Reading boxer Michael Sprott has been forced to pull out of his Commonwealth heavyweight title fight against Matt Skelton because of an injured leg.
Michael Sprott and Matt Skelton were due to head the bill at ExCel London on Saturday, but now promoter Frank Warren has had to postpone the entire show.
A disappointed Frank Warren said: "It's a big disappointment to the fans and everyone involved, but an acceptable replacement could not found at this late stage.
"When Michael is fully fit a new date will be announced."
Michael Sprott pulled a muscle in his left leg whilst training last week but he had nevertheless hoped to recover in time for the big rematch against Matt Skelton.
Michael Sprott is reported to have said: "I'm absolutely gutted. Following my win over Audley Harrison I was looking to build on it and hopefully get a world title fight, but that is on hold now.
"I really wanted to fight on but the pain was too severe to continue training and I would not have been fully fit in time to take Skelton on."
