Frank Warren says Amir Khan needs a stylish victory
Boxing promoter Frank Warren says Amir Khan needs a stylish victory against Martin Kristjansen on Saturday if he is hoping to get a world lightweight title this year.
Bolton boxer Amir Khan, 21, is fighting 30-year-old Martin Kristjansen at Bolton Arena in a bout that has been called a WBO title eliminator.
Frank Warren explained it this way: "If he is going places, Amir has got to deal with the Martin Kristjansens of this world in style. Making a world title fight isn't a problem. It is about making the fight at the right time."
Danish boxer Martin Kristjansen has only been defeated once in 23 fights and has never been stopped, while Amir Khan, when he faces Martin Kristjansen, is only as far as his 17th appearance on a professional level.
Amir Khan maintains he wants to take on America's WBO title-holder Nate Campbell, and he said: "I've trained hard just like I do for all my fights and I'm in the best condition I could possibly be in."
