Footballer-turned-boxer Curtis Woodhouse wins debut fight

boxing Footballer-turned-boxer Curtis Woodhouse has won his debut profsssional fight with an easy victory against Dean Marcoantonio at London's Grosvenor House.

The former England football player fought with confidence, although he had never boxed as an amateur, and he won on points on Friday after he twice floored his rival.

Curtis Woodhouse had turned down a new contract and quit Grimsby at the end of last season to take up his new career and he made the result definite in the final round when he floored Dean Marcoantonio with a left hook.

Curtis Woodhouse said: "I feel brilliant. It felt great to get my first win out of the way.

"The worst thing was all those people here watching me. I burnt a lot of nervous energy in the dressing room but as I go on I'll learn and improve."
