Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga's bout's on hold
Nicaraguan boxer Ricardo Mayorga won't be facing American fighter Fernando Vargas on 8 September because the latter boxer has been diagnosed with anaemia.
Blood tests showed that Fernando Vargas, who has recently had trouble making the correct weight for the fights he was down for, has the iron deficiency disease.
Fernando Vargas last fought in July 2006, and was beaten when Shane Mosley stopped him in six rounds.
But putting that behind him, Fernando Vargas and Ricardo Mayorga had announced their forthcoming fight earlier this year in Los Angeles, and the pair of boxers showed their enthusiasm by brawling after Ricardo Mayorga goaded his opponent.
However, Ricardo Mayorga, who has an impressive career record of 22 KOs, hasn't fought since May 2006, when Oscar De La Hoya knocked him out in the sixth round, and Ricardo Mayorga had tested positive for a banned diuretic following this fight in which he had lost.
