Diego Corrales ready for a savage fight with Jose Luis Castillo
Boxer Diego Corrales says his third fight with lightweight Mexican opponent Jose Luis Castillo will be the most savage one yet.
The two fighters fought 10 punishing rounds last May before Diego Corrales got up again twice from the canvas to win the bout by technical knockout.
Jose Luis Castillo, 32, won the re-match in October with a fourth-round stoppage, but he failed to regain the WBC title because he didn't make the weight.
Of their forthcoming fight when they face each other again in Las Vegas on Saturday, Diego Corrales, 28, said: "The trilogy fight will be awesome and hard to top."
Their first battle in May 2005 has been described as one of boxing's greatest ever encounters with both fighters exchanging an incredible onslaught of blows until its memorable conclusion.
"To me, the first was a tough fight, it seemed like an instant hospital ride instead of instant classic," said Diego Corrales, and he added: "I'm not even 29 yet and people come up to me all the time and say it was the best fight they've ever seen in their lives.
"I think people will forever see me and Castillo synonymous together. But this one will make everybody say 'that is why these guys fight'".
However, Jose Luis Castillo, 32, also promised fireworks and warned: "If Corrales doesn't change his style and fights the same way he did in the last two, this one will be even more spectacular.
"I will knock him out. This fight is very important to me. The key to my future is winning this and showing everyone what a good a boxer I am."
