Danny Williams or Matt Skelton could face Russian giant Nikolai Valuev The winner of Saturday's Commonwealth heavyweight title re-match between Danny Williams and Matt Skelton could be in line for a shot at the WBA crown and promoter Frank Warren is in talks for the winner to take on current champion the Russian giant Nikolai Valuev, who stands at 7ft 1in.
"That is the fight we are working on at the moment," said Frank Warren.
"Valuev is getting all the attention in the division at the moment so he is the one we would like. If not we will look at the other world champions."
A fight with Nikolai Valuev could be held in the UK before the end of the year if a deal is reached.
Nikolai Valuev, who weighs 24st, became the tallest and heaviest champion by out-pointing John Ruiz in a controversial bout last December and he defended his title by beating Owen Beck in June, although he is currently recovering from an injured knee.
Danny Williams and Matt Skelton faced each other in February, with Williams just taking the contest on points.
Frank Warren believes that the winner at the Millennium Stadium this weekend would make a worthy challenger to Nikolai Valuev.
