Cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli targets WBO title
WBU cruiserweight champion Enzo Maccarinelli is making a bid for the interim WBO title.
The Swansea 25-year-old boxer is the WBO's number one challenger and he is ready to take on all-comers, and was scheduled to tackle champion Johnny Nelson in March but the Sheffield veteran was pulled out due to a knee injury.
"I haven't got a clue who I might be fighting but it doesn't really matter to me," Enzo Maccarinelli said.
Argentinean Marcelo F Dominguez is the highest rated contender Enzo Maccarinelli could be up against at the moment, as WBO number two Steve Cunningham is due to fight Guillermo Jones for the IBF title.
If the Welsh boxer wins the interim title and 39-year-old Johnny Nelson is forced to retire because of his injury, then Enzo Maccarinelli will inherit the full WBO title. Whatever the future has in store Enzo Maccarinelli is ready for it.
