Carl Froch vows to beat South African Ruben Groenewald
Commonwealth super middleweight boxer Carl Froch has vowed to inflict
the first stoppage defeat on South Africa's Ruben Groenewald.
Carl Froch, who was taken the distance by Matthew Barney in July, will
be making the fourth defence of his title in his hometown of
Nottingham.
"I won't be hearing the final bell again. That properly annoyed me," said 28-year-old Carl Froch.
"I know Ruben is tough, but he won't be able to take the Cobra's venom."
Carl Froch, who also holds the British title, said he has fully
recovered from an injured right hand and will be able to go full tilt
against Ruben Groenewald, who has won 19 of his 26 fights.
"I went in against Barney with a damaged right hand and could only put
half power into my big shots. I couldn't get a full glove on him,"
added Carl Froch, who is unbeaten in 16 fights.
"My preparation for Ruben has gone brilliantly. The hand seems to be
fine, it has held up in heavy sparring so I feel at my best.
"For three or four rounds I am going to make it easy on myself. I am going to outbox him and show him what I can do.
"But then I know my fighting spirit will get the better of me and I am going to stand and have a good old-fashioned punch-up."
