British boxer Junior Witter beaten by Timothy Bradley
British boxer Junior Witter has lost his WBC light-welterweight belt because US fighter Timothy Bradley defeated him with a split decision 112-115, 115-113 and 114-113 score in Nottingham.
This means that Witter's dream of taking on Ricky Hatton has been ruined.
American boxer Timothy Bradley landed a right hand blow in round six that floored Junior Witter and it was a key moment in the fight.
After the fight, Witter maintained that, although he wasn't at his best he thought he had fought well enough to have won, and he said: "I'm gutted, I can't believe it. I thought I'd done enough. I know I had the knock-down but I thought I worked hard enough in the rest of the fight to win comfortably."
Bradley said he thought that Witter's obsession with wanting to fight Ricky Hatton had distracted him too much and he explained: "He trained hard for me but his mind was on Ricky Hatton."
