Boxing champion John Ruiz files lawsuit against James Toney
WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz has filed a lawsuit against James
Toney, the boxer who won the title in April and then went on to test
positive for steroids.
John Ruiz, who lost on points to James Toney, alleges he suffered
financial loss despite being restored as champion after James Toney's
positive test.
"The problem of steroids in boxing must be addressed - this is an effort to push this process forward," said John Ruiz.
John Ruiz is currently training for a title defence against Nicoli Faluyev.
James Toney was suspended for 90 days and fined $10,000 by the NYSAC,
in addition to being banned from fighting for the WBA title for two
years.
