Boxers Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins in March rematch
Legendary boxers Roy Jones Jr and Bernard Hopkins will be facing each other in a long-awaited rematch in March, reports say.
Roy Jones won a decision over Bernard Hopkins in 1993 at middleweight,
a division that Bernard Hopkins went on to rule for many years but now
the two boxers, aged 36 and 40 respectively, are tipped to have an 11
March return bout in the USA that will serve as a farewell fight for
both.
"Everybody reviewed what was on the table and we agreed to it," Roy Jones' adviser Brad Jacobs told ESPN.com.
Richard Schaefer, of Golden Boy Promotions, added: "Bernard is very happy about it and so is Roy.
"The way we look at it is that it really is the final chapter. I think
both guys are tremendous legends, and each one wants to end his career
with a win."
In his last fight on 1 October, Roy Jones lost a decision to light heavyweight Antonio Tarver.
Bernard Hopkins, who turns 41 in January, lost to Jermain Taylor on 3 December.
