Boxer Takaloo battles to get the fights and fame
Margate light middleweight Takaloo has spoken of his frustration at not being given the chance he needs at the title he wants.
The former world title challenger was due to have fought Eamonn Magee
on 10 December but the Belfast banger has pulled out due to injury.
"I want to fight for the Commonwealth and British belts because you're
remembered for winning them," Takaloo said.
"I'm starting to realise how tough this business is. Boxing is the easy
part, the politics gives you headaches."
30-year-old Takaloo fled his native Iran when he was six and finally
received a British passport in 2003 after a long battle for
citizenship.
But Takaloo added: "One of the reasons I got citizenship in 2003 was so
I could fight for a British title because that was always a dream of
mine. But now I've got it I can't get the fights I want."
Takaloo challenged Daniel Santos for the WBO light middleweight title
in 2002 but was comprehensively outpointed.
And Takaloo endured a nightmare 2004, losing successive encounters with
Eugenio Montero and Wayne Alexander.
But Takaloo says he has learned from those defeats and is determined to get all the way to the top.
"Despite the setbacks, I keep coming back. All I need now are those fights that will change my life a little bit."
