Boxer Ricky Hatton ready for Juan Lazcano
UK boxer Ricky Hatton says he is ready to take on Juan Lazcano from Mexico later this month and says he has made a full recovery from his recent illness.
29-year-old Hatton faces his next opponent at the City of Manchester stadium on 24 May although there had been concerns that he was going to have to pull out at one stage.
Ricky Hatton explained: "A couple of weeks ago I had a virus but I just had to work around it and take a few days off. I'm fine now. It was blown out of proportion, mainly by my dad but the fight was never in jeopardy."
If Hatton defeats Lazcano it would mean he could claim a fight with IBF champion Paulie Malignaggi in America, and he also wants a rematch with Floyd Mayweather, which would probably be held in Las Vegas.
However, Ricky Hatton says it will probably be his last fight in his home country because he has few goals left to achieve in boxing and doesn't want to still be in the ring in his late thirties.
