Boxer Mikkel Kessler's camp say Frank Warren's changed his offer
Danish boxer Mikkel Kessler's camp has accused fight promoter Frank Warren of lessening the chances of Joe Calzaghe facing him by not sticking to the offer he'd made.
Mogens Palle claims that Frank Warren, who is also in talks over a fight against Jermain Taylor, has considerably changed the amount of money he was proposing, and he said: "Warren's proposal was $5m, but when we met last week in London his offer had suddenly fallen to $3m."
Joe Calzaghe has the WBO title but Mikkel Kessler holds both the WBA and WBC crowns.
Meanwhile, Joe Calzaghe's camp has also offered $4m to Jermain Taylor, but the American WBC and WBO middleweight champion wants at least $6m.
Nevertheless, Mikkel Kessler could be the next big-name boxer for Joe Calzaghe to fight, and this could well be happening in September.
Joe Calzaghe said: "Kessler is a good fighter. Frank has been talking to his promoter over the last few days, trying to do something with him,
"But I think that fight may be six months or more down the road. Kessler is not a big name in America."
