Boxer Kevin Mitchell to face Carl Johanneson
Commonwealth boxing champ Kevin Mitchell's hopes of winning the British super-featherweight title will now get a chance for him to claim it when he faces Carl Johanneson in London on 8 March.
Carl Johanneson, 29, had been ready to go up against Kevin Mitchell, 23, at Bethnal Green's York Hall earlier in January, however, the fight will now be at the O2 Arena, as the main support to Enzo Maccarinelli and David Haye's world cruiserweight unification battle.
Carl Johanneson hasn't been in the ring since October when he fought challenger Michael Gomez.
Following Carl Johanneson's late withdrawal from their fight set for last month because of a back injury, Kevin Mitchell now wants to make up for time wasted.
Carl Johanneson is a very worthy opponent who currently owns a Lonsdale belt after three successful defences of the title he first won against Billy Corcoran in London in July 2006., however, Kevin Mitchell is nevertheless feeling optimistic.
Kevin Mitchell was disappointed that they didn't get an earlier chance to fight and he said: "I was gutted when Johanneson pulled out on short notice with a supposed back injury."
