Boxer Kevin McIntyre is new UK welterweight champ
Paisley boxer Kevin McIntyre has won the title of British welterweight champion after beating Kevin Anderson at the Magnum Centre in Irvine, and the judges' scores of 120-107, 119-108, 118-110 showed there was no doubt about who the winner was.
Kevin Anderson, from Buckhaven, was defending his title for the third time but he was clearly not a match for Kevin McIntyre and failed to recover from two early standing counts.
Kevin McIntyre, 29, started the fight well and kept up his momentum and control and it paid off with his victory.
Although Kevin Anderson looked in command for a while he soon had big problems when he was floored by a Kevin McIntyre right in the first round.
It looked as if Kevin McIntyre was aiming to finish his opponent off, but after taking a count of eight, Kevin Anderson took some time to get back on his feet.
Then again Kevin Anderson was back in trouble in the second round and once more took an eight second count.
After that, although Kevin Anderson battled valiantly he just couldn't match the strength or skill of his opponent Kevin McIntyre who won the bout.
