Boxer Junior Witter wants to face Ricky Hatton in New Year
WBC light-welterweight boxing champion Junior Witter wants to face Ricky Hatton and he has called for him to confirm a title bout in the New Year.
Ricky Hatton is currently thinking hard about what he should do next having been beaten in the 10th round by Floyd Mayweather in their recent welterweight title fight in Las Vegas.
Junior Witter is reported to have said: "There is no other fight, bring it on. He wants to reclaim the mantle as the best light-welterweight in the world and to do that he has to beat me."
Junior Witter has already defended his WBC belt twice, and the second of these fights ended with a very impressive seventh-round knockout of Vivian Harris back in September.
Junior Witter added: "He has shied away but I am number one recognised by The Ring (magazine) and he has just lost to Floyd."
Ricky Hatton knows he wants to continue boxing in spite of his loss to Floyd Mayweather, so it will be interesting to see what his next move is and if he will agree to fighr Junior Witter.
