Boxer Joe Calzaghe tells Daily Mirror he may retire
Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe has told the Daily Mirror newspaper that he could retire after his next fight.
The Daily Mirror quoted Joe Calzaghe as saying: "My next fight could most definitely be my last. I don't want to fight on for the money. That's not the right motivation."
And the paper reported that Joe Calzaghe also said: "I might have one more and then decide to pack it all in and get on with the rest of my life."
But before he quits boxing super-middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe, who is 36 in March, wants to arrange a fight with American boxer Bernard Hopkins in 2008.
Boxing promoter Frank Warren is optimistic about a deal being reached for Joe Calzaghe to face Bernard Hopkins at light-heavyweight.
Joe Calzaghe concluded: "I've achieved almost everything I wanted to achieve. I've reigned as world champion for 10 years and had 21 defences. There are only one or two fighters in history who can beat that. What else is there for me to achieve?"
