Boxer Joe Calzaghe not worried by Mikkel Kessler's boast
Welsh boxer Joe Calzaghe is not in the least worried about Mikkel Kessler's boast that he is the best super middleweight in the world.
WBA champion Mikkel Kessler faces WBC king Markus Beyer in a unification bout in Copenhagen on Saturday and says he has "no doubt" that he is the world's best, and WBO & IBF champion Joe Calzaghe fights Sakio Bika in Manchester on the same night.
"Kessler's the second-best super middle in the world, but I see myself beating him, like anyone else at the weight," said the unbeaten Joe Calzaghe.
"I fancy Kessler to beat Beyer convincingly, so we will wait to see if the two of us fight further down the line.
"Obviously I don't want to go to Denmark and fight him, the same as he doesn't want to come to Britain, but we'll have to wait and see," Joe Calzaghe added.
And legendary boxer 'Sugar' Ray Leonard has joined the Joe Calzaghe fan club, saying he feels the Welsh fighter has the chance to break the American market.
"I think Calzaghe has the potential to transcend the sport and become bigger than life if he comes over here," said Sugar Ray Leonard.
