Boxer Evander Holyfield faces Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow
American veteran boxer Evander Holyfield hopes to make boxing history when he faces Russian WBO heavyweight title-holder Sultan Ibragimov in Moscow.
If Evander Holyfield, 44, defeats Sultan Ibragimov, 32, on Saturday, it means he will become a world champion boxer for a record fifth time, and he will be the second-oldest top-weight world champion after compatriot George Foreman.
Many people feel Evander Holyfield has the odds stacked against him but trainer Ronnie Shields said: "If he does what we've worked on, it will be enough to win."
The undefeated Sultan Ibragimov has a very impressive record of 21 wins with 17 knockouts, but he is nevertheless a relative unknown fighter compared to Evander Holyfield who as a younger man came to fame as "The Real Deal."
But Evander Holyfield is well aware that it is not going to be an easy fight and he said of his opponent: "Ibragimov is quick and is probably going to throw more punches than any of the heavyweights that I've fought."
