Boxer Dmitriy Salita challenges Gavin Rees
Unbeaten Ukraine-born boxer Dmitriy Salita is ready to be the first fighter willing to make a bid for WBA light welterweight champion Gavin Rees' belt.
Dmitriy Salita, 27, is being lined up to take on Gavin Rees, also 27, on the Joe Calzaghe v Mikkel Kessler undercard on 3 November at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.
Dmitriy Salita is reported to have said: "Rees is a good fighter but I truly believe that I'm the best.
"I've thought of being a world champion every day since I was 13 years old."
The fight at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium will be held in front of a massive crowd, and not far from Gavin Rees' Newbridge home.
Gavin Rees won the WBA title from Souleymane M'Baye in July and his impressive record now stands at 27-0 (13 KOs).
However, he faces a real challenge from New York based Dmitriy Salita who is undefeated in 28 fights, and holds 15 stoppages to his name.
