Boxer Danny Williams withdraws from Scott Gammer fight
Boxer Danny Williams has withdrawn from his British heavyweight fight against Scott Gammer, scheduled for the Afan Lido, Port Talbot on 13 October.
Former holder Danny Williams, who is a Muslim, has pulled out because the date coincides with Ramadan and he claimed that he would not be in a fit condition to fight.
The bout will go ahead, with London's Micky Steeds as a replacement for Danny Williams and promoter Paul Boyce still hopes to stage a fight between Scott Gammer and Danny Williams at a later date.
Scott Gammer, 29, who won the vacant crown when he beat Mark Krence at Carmarthen Showground in June and he has 16 wins (9 KOs) and one draw to his name since turning professional in 2002.
Southern Area champion Mickey Steeds, 22, from the Isle of Dogs, dropped a six-round points decision to Scott Gammer in Brighton 18 months ago, but that remains his only loss in nine fights.
