Boxer Carl Froch concentrates on world title
Nottingham boxer Carl Froch has given up his Commonwealth super middleweight crown because he wants to concentrate on aiming for a world title.
Carl Froch, 29, was due to have defended his title against Charles Adamu on 22 September, but instead he now plans to defend his British belt against former world champion Robin Reid before making a challenge against Cristian Sanavia.
Carl Froch is feeling optimistic that he will then be in a position to meet the winner of the September fight between WBC champion Mikkel Kessler and Joe Calzaghe.
Carl Froch won the Commonwealth super middleweight crown by defeating Charles Adamu on points in December 2004 and has defended it six times since then.
The rematch between Carl Froch and Charles Adamu was due to be held at the MEN Arena by Frank Warren.
Carl Froch is currently recuperating after having an operation on a knee ligament.
