Boxer Amir Khan fined and banned from driving
Bolton boxer Amir Khan has been fined £1,000 as well as being banned from driving for 42 days after a Rochdale court was told that he had been driving at speeds of up to 140mph.
Amir Kahn, 21, was found guilty of breaking the speed limit on the M62 in December 2006, although he denied the charge.
A policeman explained to Rochdale Magistrates' Court that his own speedometer was "off the clock" at 155mph as he chased after Amir Khan on the motorway in question on New Year's Eve 2006.
District Judge Pamela Baldwin concluded that there wasn't enough evidence to show that Amir Khan was driving at more than 100mph, however, she was satisfied it was in excess of 70mph and that was more than enough to convict him.
Back in October, Amir Khan had already been banned for six months after causing serious injury to a man when he had driven through a red light.
Amir Khan's suspension will run concurrently with the six-month ban he already has.
