Boxer Amir Khan's last fight taught him a lesson
Bolton boxer Amir Khan says that getting knocked down to the canvas in his last fight has taught him a lesson and will actually help him when he meets Scott Lawton on 6 October at the Nottingham Arena.
But promoter Frank Warren said that when Amir Khan faces Scott Lawton, who has a record of 20 wins, it would be a "real test" of his ability and he explained: "Scott is well respected in the trade, his last fight was against Jonathan Thaxton for the British title."
Amir Khan, 20, had to recover from being on the floor to go on to win the Commonwealth lightweight title against Willie Limond in July.
Amir Khan said: "I'll learn from that - to keep my hands up, get that lateral movement,"
"Every fight, I am learning and getting better and better. I'm getting better from every fight."
Amir Khan also added: "There are a few things I've started working on from the last fight, tightening up my guard, having that lateral movement which wasn't there in the (Limond) fight."
