Boxer Alex Arthur staying at current weight
Scottish boxer Alex Arthur is struggling to make the nine stone four pounds limit but he has promised to carry on at superfeatherweight for another year.
Alex Arthur really had to fight hard to beat Englishman Steve Foster Jnr on Saturday at Meadowbank and to hang on to his WBO title, however, Alex Arthur, who could meet full champion Joan Guzman in 2008, said: "I won't be moving up just yet.
Alex Arthur added: "I've had some tests carried out with my sports scientist and we have decided that we have another year easily."
Alex Arthur battled to hold on until the 11th-round to defeat Steve Foster on points, and he commented: "Great champions go down and get up, come back and win fights and that's what I did."
Alex Arthur will fight against Joan Guzman early next year if the Dominican Republic boxer decides to keep his belt, however, boxing promoter Frank Warren first wants to show Alex Arthur off at Edinburgh Castle next year.
