Bolton boxer Amir Khan faces Martin Kristjansen
Bolton boxer Amir Khan is going to take on Martin Kristjansen in what will be an eliminator fight for a title shot at the WBO lightweight belt on 5 April. The bout will be held at the Bolton Arena.
Amir Khan and Martin Kristjansen were due to face each other on 2 February, but the Danish fighter had to pull out to due to illness and Gairy St Clair took his place.
Amir Khan, 21, who is undefeated in 16 fights, will have the advantage of fighting in front of his home crowd.
Boxing promoter Frank Warren commented on this saying: "It has put Amir in the frame to fight for the world title, hopefully this year."
Martin Kristjansen, 30, who is ranked as the world's number two lightweight by the WBO, has won 19 of his 23 previous fights but he will face a very difficult opponent to beat when he meets Amir Khan, who defeated former IBF super-featherweight champion Gairy St Clair just two weeks back.
