Bolton boxer Amir Khan faces Michael Gomez in Birmingham
Bolton boxer Amir Khan will be facing former British super featherweight champion Michael Gomez in Birmingham on 21 June.
The fight will mark Khan's first experience in the ring working with new coach Dean Powell, after he parted company with Oliver Harrison in April.
Amir Khan, 21, is so far undefeated in 17 professional fights but he knows Gomez is no easy opponent and he said: "Gomez will walk forward into my punches and I expect it to be an explosive fight."
30-year-old Michael Gomez's boxing career looked over when he suffered back-to-back defeats against Javier Alvarez and Peter McDonagh back in 2005, and he made a comeback for a domestic title fighting against against Carl Johanneson only for Gomez to be stopped in the sixth round.
However, undeterred by his past Gomez is optimistic about his chances when he meets Khan, and he said: "Amir's a very good fighter but he's never fought anyone like me."
