Bolton boxer Amir Khan beats Dane Martin Kristjansen
Bolton boxer Amir Khan made an impressive performance as he defeated Danish opponent Martin Kristjansen with a stoppage in the seventh round at Bolton Arena and, in so doing, he has progressed a step nearer to a world title fight.
Amir Khan, 21, was quick to gain control of the fight with his better speed of action, however, he still needed seven rounds before he had Martin Kristjansen in serious difficulty when he floored him.
Amir Khan received a warning for punching Martin Kristjansen when he was on the canvas, but he sent him flying again two more times before the match was over.
This win means that Amir Khan has upped his record to 17-0, and is responsible for the second defeat Martin Kristjansen, who had never before been stopped in 24 fights, has suffered.
A proud Amir Khan, said the result was just what he wanted and he added: "I'm sure people want to see me knocking people out in the first round but my opponents are getting better and better and this was a big fight for me. I am getting closer and closer to my dream."
