Bernard Hopkins says he would fight Joe Calzaghe in America
US boxer Bernard Hopkins says he would be happy to face Joe Calzaghe but that the fight would have to be in America and he challenges the Welshman to "step out of his neighbourhood".
Joe Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren has responded saying that Bernard Hopkins can pick the "weight, date and town" to fight against Joe Calzaghe, with the one request: "All we ask is that Joe gets a decent pay day."
Bernard Hopkins had explained: "I have no interest in going there. He has to bring his butt here to fight the living legend Bernard Hopkins."
Bernard Hopkins also said: "I think he understands now and Frank Warren understands that he needs that final stamp of approval from the American boxing writers and the fans.
"He doesn't have that name of that elite opponent from America on his resumé."
Joe Calzaghe is willing to take Bernard Hopkins up on this and says he will fight him wherever he likes.
