Belfast boxer Brian Magee desperate to beat Nottingham fighter Carl Froch
Belfast boxer Brian Magee aims to get his career back online by claiming the British and Commonwealth super middleweight crowns from Nottingham fighter Carl Froch in London on Friday.
Brian Magee, 30, saw a lucrative bout with Joe Calzaghe fall through last year and also suffered a controversial defeat to European champion Vitali Tsypko.
"I have been standing still for a bit," said Brian Magee.
"I have had setbacks and been short of luck. I have got a big point to prove and I will make Froch eat his words," Brian Magee added.
Southpaw Carl Froch has 14 knockouts in 18 fights and is aiming for a European title fight later this year but Brian Magee, with 25 wins in 27 fights, was defeated by former world champion Robin Reid in 2004 and Ukrainian Tsypko last July.
Losing to Carl Froch would almost certainly finish Brian Magee's career, while for Froch to get beaten would be a huge blow to the fighter's world-title goals.
